Baird Industries is a wire and cable
manufacturer located in northern New Jersey. We manufacture monofilament and
cable products for the medical industry and industrial applications. These
products include stainless steel suture, catheter subassemblies, spinal
fixation cables, temporary cardiac pacing leads, catheter components, high
fatigue life miniature cable assemblies and many other products. Our
products are manufactured using a wide variety of semi-automated and fully
automated machinery.

Position:
Mechanic Technician
Responsibilities:
To follow management’s direction in the repair, maintenance and upgrading of
production equipment and building systems. Tasks include any or all of the
following:
· Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment as necessary
· Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
· Document maintenance and repairs in log book
· Assist with all facility maintenance and repairs
· Provide support in the installation and start-up of new equipment
· Wire control circuits including sensors, motor controllers, PLC’s, relays,
timers etc.
· Fabricate electrical enclosures from prints/sketches
Qualifications:
· Minimum 4 years experience in a manufacturing/machine shop environment or
equivalent
· Good communication skills are essential
· Hands-on experience with tools is essential
· Working knowledge in the following areas is desirable:
· Power transmission: motors, gears, V belt, timing belts, bearings
· Installation and maintenance of air, water & electrical delivery systems
· Electrical wiring and basic electronic circuits
· Wiring & troubleshooting AC and DC drives and motors
· Pneumatics systems: valves, cylinders, grippers, actuators
· Basic machining operations: milling, grinding, turning, drilling
· PLC experience is desirable
· Ability to handle rapidly changing priorities to meet production demands
· Requires occasional heavy lifting, shifting and moving of items up to 80
pounds
· Requires valid driver’s license |
